Air Elemental makeup

Post by theotherphoenix on Wed Nov 16, 2011 11:05 pm

I'm wondering if anyone here has done the traditional four elements in facepainting. I've had a couple of attempts at air now, neither of which I'm totally happy with. The first was too blue, and with the white wig, looked more like either water or Smurfette. The second (pictured) was very white, with just a few blue swirls and looked nice, but not overly interesting.

Sylphs and Undines would probably have similar colors involved, so you have to differentiate one way or another.

Sylphs would be a light of sky blue, with clouds, rainbows, leaves blowing in the wind, birds, butterflies. Costume should be light and billowy, sheer fabrics that invoke the thought of vapors. Other colors can be involved besides blues and whites, but they should be misty, sheer and vaporous. A nice Sylphy costume would also include some floral scent and bells. It's all about the air! A lacy butterfly mask or something with some feathers would work too.

Thank you leapinglizards, some nice new ideas for me to play with there. Now that it's summer I can make a dress from layers of chiffon and organza, so hopefully that will be the transparent floatiness you've mentioned. The above picture was from midwinter (ok, midwinter in Auckland is still above freezing, but it's not warm enough for chiffon)

Hmmm... feathers. I'm sure I have a pile of white feathers here somewhere.

Also, now I'm tempted to make a rainbow elemental. Very Happy
