balloonhq.com

If you start with the basic dog, sword, flower---everything else will come...you're creative, remember?! (and when I started, I found most kids were happy with those...and still are!)

Please email me if you come across any questions. I've been twisting for over 20 years and there are a few little tips and tricks I can share with you. Depending on what you plan to make, you can get by with very basic knowledge. The keys are how much air to pump, how to stretch the balloon, twist only in one direction, twist at least three times, keep scissors nearby, tie a knot softly, and try not to make faces when you twist! I teach others and find it funny how scared some can look when they twist. The fear of popping the balloon is written all over their faces!
Good luck!

thanks for all that info! like you said though depends on the design. i think we are starting wth a basic flower. i had a look on youtube and some made it look basic some made it look hard. i noticed that balloons are recognised by their colour which is what i thought (long skinny pink one lol) but by numbers??
the thing im concerned about is tying the knot. ive never been to great at that even with a regular balloon it also hurts my fingers?

tying a balloon knot is hard to explain... let's see if I can make a quick video for you about how I do it.

The numbers refer to the size of balloon 160s are 1 inch wide and 60 inches long when fully inflated. 260s are 2 inches wide and 60 long.... etc. 321s are the funny shaped ones with the skinny, pointy end on them.

Here are some of my favorites. I think I subscribe to 85 You Tube Channels split equally between balloon twisters and face painter. Of course you will find hundreds of videos on youtube on balloon twisting but these are both entertaining and informative. Enjoy!

The best tip I can give you about the tying a knot is give yourself enough balloon to stretch over your fingers comfortably. If you're struggling just let some air out. Also don't pull your knot super tight because the friction can cause small tears in the balloon causing air to leak out.

I like the jumping mouse, I think its the easiest and the funniest one I do right now as a beginner twister myself. =0) small head, two small ears and TADAH! you pull the tail to make it fly goodluck! I will tag this post to keep in my references when I am ready to start focusing on improving my balloons.

There are a lot of things you can do with balloons... Worms, snakes, sticks, sausages, pickles...
