I don't like them cause they're too runny - I like the cake so I can add the water and make my own consistency. And I've read a lot about reactions from these. They sell these in my local Wal-Mart.

I don't like them. In order to get a good solid color consistency you have to load it on and then when it dries it begins to crack. I too love the cake type of makeup, it doesn't cause the itching my daughter complained about and it doesn't crack when she smiles.

LOL, I thought so. I was just wondering.
I have learned anything that looks cheap is most likely made cheap.

Snazaroo is probably the best one to start with. It is a cake that you activate with water and you control the consistency by the amount of water you work into it.

It is the easiest to find, has about 60 colours to choose from and the least expensive.

Why do you want "thick"???

GacK!!! Gag!!!! This is the worst stuff ---- it is why people don't want to get their faces painted by us today......cuz they had bad experiences with this stuff or acrylics. Even people who started out using it (not knowing there were professional grade products out there) will tell you it is JUST PLAIN AWFUL.

uuuuuhhhh.... I remember when I first started painting and I was totally on my own and trying to find face paint... I had some palmer(because it was all that I could find and it was before I owned a computer!) and even then, when I had tried nothing else at all, I HATED it.... It's goopy and sticky and remains tacky after you're done... it cracks, flakes, and stained me(in almost every color!)

All I can say is... NEVER AGAIN! Suspect

Their "secret ingredient" that makes it "stick" is the same ingredient used in household latex paint.
Palmer is repackaged acrylics. The only good thing they do is that they now use FDA approved cosmetic pigments. The problem is that none of the other ingredients are cosmetic. But since the FDA only regulates the pigments, they are able to sell this glorified acrylic as "face paint".
My suggestion is to stay away from ANY product that calls itself "Paint".
If the label does not say "make-up", then it is most likely NOT a good product.
Snaz, Mehron, Kryolan, etc....all say "make-up".

I have Palmer. Used it for small art, normally on the arms and cheek. You can not use it for anything big as it is think and when it dries it will crack. Snazaroo is a good start for full face painting. You can order Snaz on line or buy the starter 8 color pack at a Michaels craft store in the US for about $12 plus tax.

I personally do not recommend Palmer to anyone. The $12 Snaz starter paints is a cheeper way to begin face painting.
