Some first tries...

Post by Glitterpixiee on Wed Nov 23, 2011 4:36 pm

I am a total noob at face painting(about 2 months) but am already addicted. I don't have much paint or great brushes yet but I am working with what I have. I would love some constructive criticism from the awesome artists on here!!! I am having issues posting pics atm so here is a link to my gallery. Please let me know what you think.

I think for just beginning ... it's awesome work!

I think you have a great base all your designs. You butterflies are excellent.

Try a little bit more white to make the design pop a little more. A swirl around the body or attenea.

I only just started getting a handle of my skulls. I took a nice long look at the wolfe brothers skull.

and I love how you used the phrase. "I'ma noob"

I'm a gamer and totally cracked up.

You aren't a noob with those pictures. Keep practicing. And cant wait to see more!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your comments!!! I def will be practicing as much as possible, it's hard not to because I truly enjoy face painting. I really need to focus on my brush strokes and techniques. Learning how to apply the right amount of pressure at the right time, etc. I use my thighs alot for practicing. Sometimes I fall asleep before I wash the paint off and end up with paint everywhere. LOL! I look foward to attending a few classes because I think they would be very beneficial.

Thank you!!! Hearing such positive remarks gives me the inspiration to keep going. I would be happy to become half as good as all the pros around here. I am so glad I found the forum. Very Happy

Very awesome work so far! The only thing I notice is that your linework isn't very fluid yet (the lines are very very precise, and seems like they took a long time), but that will come with lots of practice. Smile Good luck, you're off to a great start!!

Thanks for the reply! I haven't done any parties yet due to the fact I need to work on my speed and linework.

Thanks everyone for checking out my pics and for their comment!!!

Very nice!

I especially like the orange/yellow butterflys with the way you've outlined and used black and white.

You are ready now! Don't worry about speed so much right now. If you get the chance to do a party, do it. Just make sure you know in your head how long it will take you to do X amount of children and let the client know your rate of speed...but don't tell them you are slow, tell them you tend to take a little more time because you are a "perfectionist and you want everyone to have the perfect face painting today!"
cheers

I agree... when the pressure is on you will find yourself picking up the speed. Seeing as you started this thread around 6 weeks ago... wondering if you have starting working professionally yet, ie. had a paid gig?
