I have really hated doing spidey too! esp coz all the little dudes that want him are under five and are mostly wigglers! but I must say ppf has really helped me to improve it and now I'm not cringing when I hear..I wanted to be spiderman please. Heres my one on my youngest son, Levi..

I tend to stick to masks too because I hate seeing the rings from the little people drinking - and smudges from eating. Masks for the littles allows the face paint to survive the party. And I just use a sponge to do the eyes, I think we can get pretty clean lines with a them, and I fade the colours on the forehead and cheeks so once the lines are around the eyes it's nice and tidy. I do spiderman and spideygirl the same other than colours.

It's so interesting to see everyone's different takes on Spiderman! I definately feel inspired to re-hash my Spidey. Here's the one I do now and have done for years, this is an old pic and mine has definately improved since this was taken:

The first is my typical quick spiderman. I like using starblends for it because they go on so quick.
The second is what I call spidergirl. I do a lot of these in pink.
The last is spiderdog, and I can't quite recall why I turned it into a dog. I should have brought the red down further and made long ears.

wmeventservices wrote:Yay for improvement! I'm glad you feel more confident with Spidy now. Not sure if you were wanting to be able to fill the eyes in completely or not, but here's how I do it. I can't sponge or brush them either.

I do spiderman eyes with a white dauber. You do some circular motions over the eyes to get a nice coverage and then flick up to create the point. It's never perfect, but I just define the the shape a little with the red.

Wow I love this red !! so beautiful ! what brand is it ?

Was practicing spiderman yesterday. Had to look at some clip art to see how to paint him. Today I see the thread here. Thanks for all the great pics and ideas on how to paint him. I really like the mask version and the 1/2 faces due to food and speed. Such an icon still. Off to practice more on new practice head..

I do a quick one eyed spider guy, makes party lines go faster, and the usual wiggler is not going to sit for the full face...I was lucky to get this much on this little guy! I used paradises white, but then filled in on his eye with star blends because he just was not going to sit for paint on his eye.

I really do love painting spidey. I find it one of the fastest designs to paint. Mind you, I paint mainly a mask type. I use a 3/4 flat brush and with 4 swoops an eyes are done. Then I use a round sponge cut in half and paint like you would a rainbow butterfly on the forehead and cheek bones add some tear drops, paint the webs, highlight and tada here he is. I also do him in red, but my son liked the rainbow one.
Sorry the pic is so big it won't resize.

PS I love the new take on spidey puppy.
