Favorite Perks

Post by fairyfox on Mon Nov 28, 2011 2:22 pm

So-
We all love the painting, but what else do you LOVE about your job?

Here are some of mine:

Driving on the grass- best video game turned real ever, no lines no curbs, park anywhere Yay!

Eating birthday cake and Pizza all the time.

Knowing the radio DJ's.

I'd love to hear some of yours!

When I begin to paint, the sudden, dead silence that takes over the crowd of children who were running and screaming wildly only moments ago...

The look in the mirror magical appreciative smiles after being painted. Being a surrogate mom/grandma for at least the painting times of every kid/adult--and many times for regulars. Dropping some love into each heart that passes by, and having a lot dropped into mine. Not having a 9-5 schedule. Having dishes to wash when I come hoe to get the paint off for tomorrow, Being able to work my kids schooling around my schedule instead of vice-versa. Colors!! Glitter! ...and the list goes on...

Being able to contribute to the budget but still homeschool my kids & be an active mom in their lives. Knowing my girls will never settle for a low paying job (how many teens make $20/hr... HeeHee... they're ruined Very Happy ).

Being creative & getting to hang out w/ kids all day!

Smiles in mirror!

Hearing the words, "You're the 1st person my child has ever let paint them. " or an adult saying, "This is the 1st time I've ever been face painted."

Being silly & it's ok rabbit

Filipino Food, Greek Food, Thai Food... Mmmmm!

Rainbows of color!!!!!

FPF Friends that understand my type of insanity I love you

It's so sweet to be walking down the street or in the shops and overhear a young child say to their mum/dad - that's the face painting lady!

And I love it when I hear mum/dad say (when a child sits in my chair), "you painted him/her at (insert a previous gig) and this is the first thing she wanted to do today" Nawwww. What a compliment!

I love having a good reason to buy and play with lots of colourful glitter and paint.

And even though I am in my zone when I am painting and it's hard to take in all going on around me, my ears will always pick up the words: "She's so talented, and so fast!" heheheee... - even though I know I have plenty to improve on and I'm no match for the real talent on here, my ego really enjoys that kind of talk, lol!

The look on people's faces when they look in that mirror.
Having the admiration of the mom whose child NEVER sits still, and who has sat in a trance with his face trustingly placed in my hand.
Having someone come see me, saying they came just because they heard I'd be there.
Being able to refer to my glitter covered "ones" as my stripper money. (where did that come from again??)
Getting recognized in the store.
Going everywhere painted... the mall, Walmart, the bank, grocery store...
Have I mentioned that I'm a ham?

Being told I'm an artist. Working with my kids...like Linda said...I can offer them a lot per hour and hopefully they'll catch the entrepreneurial spirit.
