You are absolutely stunning! And the the butterfly on the girl in your avatar is beautiful!!! I think your princess parties will be a BIG HIT!

Besides face painting, I'm also a clown, and I had a birthday mom from years past (had done each of her kids' parties) ask me for a barbie or princess party. I explained that I was a middle aged woman, and it probably wouldn't fly. She BEGGED. So I agreed, with the condition that it would be a spoof on a princess party, since I never looked that good, even when I was young enough.

I dug up an old bridesmaid dress (which was pretty, albeit TIGHT!). And basically I was "Princess the morning after". Princess was having a very rough day: Messy hair, lost her supplies, Prince charming is mad. Room's a mess... It was hilarious! Face painting was girly, of course. Mom loved it. Daughter loved it. (And they called me "clown", even without an ounce of clown makeup on. Go figure.)

Now, if I had looked like YOU, it would have been completely different!

Adorable! If you didn't want a panel, perhaps some of the big roses pinned in that area like the ones on your sleeves. I'd wear some clear shoes too if you can find any. I have a pair but unless you wear a size 10, you're out of luck. (plus I have no idea where they are at the moment!), but that would add to the "princess" theme. I always thought a "Mary Poppins" outfit would be cute to dress in too. Cute little hat, high topped shoes, little umbrella...

We offer several characters, but I mean characters...I would suggest you go another route than charge for "dressing up like". You could offer the Deluxe girls party with Princess Katrinia. Sell the character, not the costume and you will get more money and that is who they will be asking for. Your background should have you all prepared.
As other threads have expressed there are many of us who get a little miffed at people "dressing up like a clown". You are a clown or you are not.
So be a Princess you sure look like it!
Characters sell, they put you way ahead of your competition when done right and there is no doubt you'd do it right. This is when you cross over into being an entertainer. There are face painters and there are entertainers that paint faces. There is room for both.
Unless you have an incredible market such as Jinny (who was a clown), Mark Reid or some of the big names it can be difficult to make exceptional money fp...the character will make the difference.
You rock as a Princess...remember dry cleaning bills and consider a sweet apron for when you pick up your paints, it can fit your story line. Your mother "The Queen" had a tizzy when you messed up your favorite gown. Make it all work, where you got your fairy dust when you put glitter on...every little thing can work to make your character what the girls want and the mothers will pay for.
We have a comedy princess and the phone rings for funny Princess Michele, she has a story line, does a 30 min. comedy magic show, face painting and brings balloons. $125. for show plus balloons, $150 hr. for fp
$225 booked together We live in a small country town and yet there are 4 clowns that paint faces and a couple art teachers so there is competition.
People will pay for your talent and personality when YOU sell it and see it's value. sunny

Thanks so much guys. I appreciate the compliments! Thank you for the input too!!
SKJ... I agree with you. If I go as "princess Katrina", even if I am only painting faces, I will be IN CHARACTER the entire time. I DO want to leave the option open of a less expensive option for the parents to have me just painting faces in character. (more than regular painting parties, but less than a "deluxe princess party). It takes an hour to get through most parties anyway. Hard to fit in anything else when parents are on a budget. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of the "fairy dust"! I might even consider having a story that I tell while I paint the birthday girl in the beginning. That would be a great way to introduce my character during painting! Then.. I can carry that through the rest of the party. But.. as I said earlier in the thread, I am working on putting together an entire deluxe princess party with a story that I will read to the kids, a coronation ceremony for all of the little girls.. maybe teaching a princess dance. I'm a singer... so I want to write a couple of songs to go along with my story. (something about etiquite for cake eating... or something fun for present time). I used to tell EVERYONE that I wanted to be a "singer" when I grew up. I can't do theater right now with my babies so young, so... I will make it happen one way or the other!
Lorie I have cute gold slippers that I wear. I'm not "cinderella" or anything like that, but I think my gold slippers are very cute and match the dress really well.
I definitely agree that you are a clown or you are not... or any character for that matter. I'm working on a clown character too, but I'm taking it seriously and won't advertise any of it until I'm completely prepared. Still trying to find time to make it all happen when I'm SO busy with my kids. cyclops

oh.. fpinmn..that is AWESOME!! I'm not naturally funny. I REALLY have to work at it. I guess we all have our strengths. I want to clown SO BAD. We shall see. I feel like clowning would be a REALLY good creative outlet for me. Can't let loose in "princess" like I can in clown. My (eventual) clown character is going to be young and "cutesy". I need to figure out another dimension to her. Ditsy for sure. Maybe clumsy? That would fit me. lol.

Finally got my wig and modified my dress for modesty. (I did it a while ago, but I finally had another princess party).

I'm bending over here... you can't tell the way it's cropped, but no cleavage! =)

Thanks for the feedback

It looks great, you look great! I'd love to do princess parties... But I want to get basic parties down first... Still not sure how much more to charge for princess parties... Or what I would do as part of the package... :/

Thank you so much everyone!! Bekah... I have a little story I tell now about my character, and all of the guests get tiaras if the parents opt for it. I do a little coronation ceremony and teach a special "wave and curtsy". It's a fun little addition. I still book more regular paint parties though.
My clown character is still a work in progress. lol. Although, Perrynoia is amazing and did some little drawings for me for a coloring book. Very Happy
