Mic Tattoos-My New Love

May I just say... I hate doing glitter tattoos. The glitter is a pain to work with, poofer bottles clog, pots spill, argggg! I've given the chore to my(unhappy) daughter(I'm a mean mom).
But, I got some mica & WOW!!!!!! I LOVE IT! It looks so shimmery & soft, is not the horrid mess that glitter is(I'm not leaving a glitter mark on the home that will be there for years). Black mica powder looks so cool & the boys love it 'cause it looks just like a real tattoo! I've also used my Starblends & my Ben Nye Limier Pallet w/ amazing results. They also last so much longer. I had a mica tattoo last a week on my inner arm & I think it would have lasted longer if I hadn't painted over it a few times.
I will be getting a ton more colors & start promoting the tattoos again!

Mica is AWESOME! I never even bothered with glitter tattoos, went straight for mica because of their lovely shimmery quality. I haven't done any gigs yet, but I've tried them on myself and friends and I love how they look! The lines are so crisp and they feel so smooth to the touch. I can't wait to do a mica tattoo party!

lets see some pictures when you guys have some..I too think the glitter is a big mess..and the mica powders you can use a eye shadow brush ..i love the black mica...makes great looking tattoos...they look almost real

When you use the starblends do you just smoothie it over the stencil, or do you use the glitter glue and then put the starblends on that? (If so, how do you stop the smoothie blender from getting tacky/what do you use to apply?)

I love my glitter tats but I also use the mica as well. I was able to score some discontinued colors from ABA for a $1.00 a piece. They really look nice and certain colors can mimic that of an actual tattoo. Boys really love the mica option. Tats don't seem so girly then.

Is the application method the same with mica as with glitter?

Oh wow! I LUV that black! There was a post somewhere that someone found an online shop to buy really inexpensive mica...a candle supply place or something like that? Anyhone know?

TKB trading is great for mica, nice easy to use site. I tried placing an order with Coastal Scents but it was just horrid to use. never again.

Yes, I got mine at http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com! I also made a post showing the mica from that site, I think it's called "Mica and glitter haul" so you should be able to find it. The mica is really nice!

The application process is pretty much the same as glitter tattoos.

You put on the stencil & then put on the glue. I use the "lip gloss" applicator(not the one w/ the roller, but the one w/ the wand. The roller clogs to easily), not the "nail polish" applicator. I like the "lip gloss" style better as it uses less glue & leaves a smoother surface to work with. The "nail polish" style applicator uses too much glue & leaves your glitter brushes gloppy.

If using Starblends or Ben Nye I use a smoothie. Since the glue layer is so thin, it doesn't leave any glue residue on the smoothie.

If using mica powders I use a brush.
