VistaPrint Banner Problem

Post by BekahCat on Sun Jan 01, 2012 7:40 am

I ordered a banner from VistaPrint, the small one because they had an offer on where it was free. In checkout there was an option for what looked like cheep plastic grommets which I refused because I'm tight and didn't want to spend the extra money where I assumed the banner would come with holes in it to hang it with...

Unfortunately, the banner arrived, it's lovely but has no holes and I have no idea how to hang it...

I'd really appreciate ideas... :/

If you go to a super store in the camping section they have these little black clips that clip on one side and have holes on the other, they are for tarps and such. They come in packs of four for about $4.00. I use them for everything (especially photography gear and festival stuff too). I hope you have them in your area as they are identical to the clips Vista Print sells but way more durable. Another option would be to take duct tape and make your own, fold it over the corners and then use a hole punch or grommet maker to make the hole, it would be very durable. Or, just buy a grommet maker at the craft store, they work for tarps and such as well.

You can use a hole punch to make the holes. So far it's worked for me... but I haven't had SUPER strong winds. They do cope with a good breeze though.

PS... I bought the vistaprint plastic grommits first time round and they broke within a few weeks of use.
The hole punch, directly into the banner material, works fine for me.

I use metal grommets I bought at a hardware store. I, too, had the VistaPrint grommets which broke on the first use - you were wise not to buy them!

Yes, the plastic ones from Vistaprint break quickly if you use the exterior loop - I found myself switching to the little hole instead. The plastic does reinforce the banner nicely so it doesn't rip. So the next one I put my own grommets in, and it is working fine. I did reinforce the canvas by putting duct tape on either side before hammering the grommet.

Go to Michael's and get some metal ones and the little tool to put them on. You can just mark where you want the holes, cut a little X with scissors and insert the grommets using the tool and a hammer. I tried the plastic ones ONCE and never again.

Thanks for all your help, I contacted a local printing company and they put in grommets free of charge. I'll definitely be turning to them in the future!
