MONSTER HIGH- Face painting designs

Post by artyfacesbyluz on Mon Jan 09, 2012 2:30 pm

There is a new trend among the young girls ages 5 thru 11. My daughter has already been invited to 3 "Monster High" birthday parties and guess who has 2 gigs next month?......... ….ME.
Although I understand, that kids never pick the designs for the theme of the party , I want to be prepared and I think it's a great opportunity for us to develop a series of official "Monster High" face painting designs.

Here are mine... inspired by their stickers, feel free to use them as you desire, and I am excited to see yours.

Hmmm... after a brief search, I think that the frankenstein girl (light green skin with stitches on cheek) would make a cool full-face, in addition to what you already have.

ALSO... apparently these dolls have pets, and they look like they'd make good cheek art!

My daughter loves Monster High dolls. Her favourite is Lagoona Blue. Yesterday she was painting her on my practice head. She started with painting the whole face blue, but choose the wrong blue, too dark...I needed lots of aceton to clean lol.

But your designs are great Luz. Maybe use more colour instead of white? Doesn't Deuce have green hair?

Ditto what Kim said about the heads up. My kids are in their mid twenties and I have a hard time keeping current with what's popular with the kiddos.

The main reason I made masks is because I want something that look "cool" on my everyday menu, a full face will look too halloween, I want to target the 9-12 ages group, Adding some color to the mask is a great idea. Thank you guys.

Re: MONSTER HIGH- Face painting designs

I actually paint at a Halloween "village" in October, and one girl came through with a monster High doll costume. I had NO idea what it was, so I just winged it. I thought it was kinda weird, but she loved it! I used a scales stencil that I made.

One thing I have noticed in looking at Monser high dolls, (I decided I better go learn what they were after painting this), is that they are really simple. The makeup is subtle. It's like the glamourous version of monsters. Less is really more in painting them.
Arty... I would take away the black outline around the eyes. (JMO). One thing the dolls ALL have is dramatic eyeshadow, and that is also one thing that girls that age love. It doesn't have to look Halloweeny, but really, that's kinda the point of the dolls. They are the daughters of Halloween characters, so there is really no getting around it. lol. I think the reason they are popular is that they are really pretty and have glamorous makeup.
