Nascar tracks

Post by HillbillyDiva1 on Tue Jan 10, 2012 6:21 pm

Does anyone do gigs at a NASCAR track? There building one in Branson and was wondering if it was a good place for face painting?

I've never noticed anyone at the tracks I've been too. That being said, us Nascar fans are pretty crazy about our favorite drivers so I would think glitter tats would go over good. Another good option might be tattoo like painting on the chest or back as there are always quite a few scantily clad women AND men.
The main drawbacks I see would be A-there are 43 drivers in any given race and, though not all of them will have a large fan base, the top 20 probably will and you'll get grief from the fan who you can't hook up! B- It's usually hot, hot, hot, lots of sweaty people so painting might be a pain. C-Most of 'em will be drunk, yes even before the race, and YES I speak from experience!

I was thinking about that. I'm about 2 hours from Daytona, FL so I've got a good idea of how it would go. I would think showing up and finishing before the races start would be more ideal. Be a part of the early tale gating.

I would think that an Air brush tattoo compressor investment would pay off in a couple of days. The ink is sweat proof, once you set it.

Hey Sam, if you figure it out I am in with you! Also, I've got two compressors so we could really knock it out! I've been told by Nascar friends it would be awesome and a real money maker - like football games.

Is Branson going to have a Cup race or just the local Nascar series? That'd make a difference. You might be able to scout out a local track on a Sat. night to see the response you would get.
Oooo! Just thought of sumthin'! Most fans will have on their fave driver's shirt, instant references! Bonus!

OOOOOoohhh. That would be radtastic. I tried to find vendor information about a year ago but to no avail. Then again I didn't try as hard as I could so THE SEARCH IS ON!

Their just breaking ground here they had a little opposition to building a track here but the tea totterers lost out the all the people that need the jobs it would bring.

I painted at a track. They actually hired another face painter and she brought me and one other painter in. Sometimes the drivers will pay to have entertainment there.

I have been asked to paint at other race events at Watkins Glen, and I have friends that work for Bristol, NASCAR (the sanctioning body) itself brings in vendors on track property, so dealing with the track for anything onsite during race week won't help. In Bristol, the campground I stay at has vendors row, but the booths start at $700 for the weekend and it is not on track property.

If you can figure out the vending situation, the airbrush tattoo business will be really heavy there, I would bet. I have my daughter do them while I paint, and it is our money maker, because she can do 4 or 5 tattoos to every face I paint, so add it up. YOu guys would kick butt.

I can see one of the potential problems being licensing issues, and each team has their own sponsor, colour scheme, number stylized so that simply painting/airbrushing/glittering the number 14 wouldn't bring in much $$ or interest...factor in that many races are held in extremely hot areas in the middle of the summer...sweat would be an issue for face paint...not poo-pooing anyone, just sharing thoughts from an avid race goer. Smile I did my most painting after dark in the campground on the folks that had been indulging a bit...err...alot...but there, you'd better have low morals and a good sense of humor!! LOL At that point though, no one has any money on them, and I just painted my friends in our area. Had alot of fun though!

Lots of great advice and now I'm thinking when I get my tax money maybe I should invest in airbrush instead of glitter tattoos and henna tattoos.

Did a little looking around at this. The chances of "Nascar" coming to Branson are slim. At least the big guys. As far as I know, in order for a new track to get a date, an old track has to give one up, and that doesn't happen. The Sprint Cup already race 32 weeks, only a couple of weekends off...And it looks like another 1.5 mile track isn't exactly unique and in demand... The track group plans to host smaller events initially...not nascar events.
If you want an airbrush set up, go for it, but be careful if you are banking on races to make your money.
