Practicing for my 1st pregnant victim..(final product added)pg 2
newest pix here...she asked for something abstract, pink with Welcome Baby Niyema. i think the words can go on the banner. its a girl. im hope she does think its to many colors... she may want something more girly... i think i did ok on my leg. could be a different story on a belly. what do you guys think.

I finally have a mom who agreed to let me do a belly painting. Dont think I will be doing this design but I thought the baby was pretty cute. I had trouble...I wasnt sure whether to do the yellow background first or paint the baby. As you can see I painted the baby first then tried to trim with the yellow. What's the proper order of painting, if there is one? This design was done on my leg.

I may have to figure in out and practice. I may have to do a light background (white/pearl white) then work my way to the outside with the yellow or a darker color. I just didnt know if the color from the baby would pick up the color from the background.
I would love more feedback on this topic

I just did my first belly about a month ago, but I'd paint the background first, leaving spaces without painting for drawing the baby (if that makes sense, you know my troubles with my awful English)

i start with the background... if you really have dark backgrounds i draw just the lines where i want to have something... but that baby is soooo cute... you will do fine... have fun!!!

Oh,love them both! I like the frame on the second but maybe the first one is more "girly" (If you know what I mean)

The second one is really cute, You could add some flowers if she wants something a little more girly, but I love how you've painted the banner!

my fav is the second one w all the bright colors beautiful!! i also vote for backgrounds first
Re: Practicing for my 1st pregnant victim..(final product added)pg 2
First off, gorgeous designs! I bet Mommy will love them!
I always do background and fill colors first, saving the line work for last. I depend on the line work to really clean up the design unless I'm doing realism (i.e. painting clothing on somebody).
