Rose and very fast dolphin

Post by LoneWolf on Fri Aug 28, 2009 5:46 pm

ok, this is my first video! (and number two..)

This is the rose from the "fairy on flower blowing bubbles". It is really hard not knocking the camera down..
#8 round sable for the rose (1:1:1 white/neon pink/red), #6 for the leaf (light and dark green) and eyeliner for the black.

This is my ultra fast dolphin. Normally I don't use loose glitter, but liquid bling.
It is a #8 round sable 1:3. white/dark blue.

All the colours are Diamond FX.

Hope you find them usefull =)

Those are awesome. It looks like your paint is softer than a typical cake. How do you get it the right consistency? They look thick when they go on.

I made the split cakes myself with DFX colours. Since I don't really use other colours, I can't say if they are softer than others.

But I make sure that the brush is saturated in the paint. Before the videos, the brushes was more or less loaded already, since I had been painted it just before (but my camera card god filled, and did not record the end, so I had to start over).

Lone, 5ha5 was awesome! Thanks so much for sharing that! I'm gonna get my paints out and try to paint along! Were you using a liner brush or a small round to do the outline? Your hands are so steady!

Yes, I use #8 a lot! I have one for white and black, but mostly use the one for yellow/orange/red and blue/green.

It is a eyeliner brush I use for lining this. Very thin, so have to reload a lot of times. But the bigger the design, the bigger outline brush. Like for tigers I often use the #8 black because it can both make big bold tiger stripes, but also thin lines when needed.

I'm glad you could use it =)

LW - thank you!! I've been using a 3/4 flat to do dolphins with my splits - but I went out and bought a #8 round (I heart Michael's!) and tried yours - amazing! Adorable dolphins in seriously, what, 20 seconds tops?!

My version of your rose looked like garbage, so in the meantime I'll just do my other version Razz

I'm going to join in with the praise choir, cause those were awesome.

What I'm really impressed with is the line work. I try to avoid a complete outline because I just can't get it to look good like that. I think it's a combination of paint flow and consistency, and my hand control.

Excellent Chops LoneWolf! This place is soooo cool!

Lonewolf, You use an Eyeliner brush to do you lines..I don't think I ever seen that type of brush..What type, or brand of eyeliner brush do you use? I have been using a #8 round brush as you advised and I now have better control of my lines and painting...thanks..I shake sometimes when I do fine lines..

I use a tiny cat's tongue brush as my eyeliner brush in my make-up kit. What are you using Lone?

I don't really have a clue where my favourite eyeliner/liner comes from, the coating has worn of. But it looks a bit like this: http://www.classicbeautytherapy.com.au/site_images/Short%20Handled%20Eyeliner%20Brush.jpg.

The hairs is a bit shorter than a normal eyeliner.

Cat's Tongue is a filbert brush with a longer loofe (hair). I think the one I use for eyeliner is a 0 or maybe a 2. I can control it way better than a round of the same size.

That eyeliner brush looks just like my 'Bare Minerals' brush that I bought at Ulta Cosmetics. They work great for fine detail and are easily controlled. I need new ones...I about wore my others out! Very Happy
