Why are instructors so inspiring??

Post by Denise Cold on Tue Jan 17, 2012 10:38 pm

I saw this raptor design of Brian Wolfe's and it seemed so cool...like why couldn't I think of that one my own??? This is my first try with my autumn leaf cake and it it turned out really cool and will be even better once I practice it. How do they make this stuff seem so easy? It's not THAT much different than my one before but it is....

I love this design, I've seen these raptor designs using the mouth a lot... I need to try it myself...

I like your orange version better than the red/pink one. My version of the dino mouth is popular, but pretty pathetic. I'm a bit embarrassed of it!

I love yours Denise. I saved that Wolfe pic yesterday when I came across it, looking forward to trying it. Just need a willing kid!

Love the first red/pink one!
Well just answer my question: Denise, what makes you so inspiring for me?!

You guys are too nice!

I'm just always surprised how super talent people like the Wolfe Brothers Christina, Mark Reid and Pashur and Marcela, etc...how they can be so creative. It's like they see the world differently. And I guess because they paint so much, they can make a dino come alive like I couldn't in a thousand years.

I think I must be more left brained than I thought. I like deconstructing face painting and that helps me figure it out so I can do a design consistently...that's my "superpower." I'm not that fast, and I'm not that creative and I can't "draw" like Dutch and some of the amazing painters on the forum like Kim & Shannon.

Like I said in different post...I'm so grateful that there are the designers out there (and here) that push the envelope and try the really cool stuff so that we can all get better and better.

Yeah, well.... I see what you're saying. Would love to add something: if it was just for ideas and stuff, I would check once in while and copy the stuff into my inspiration folder.
Hanging out here every day is because of the joy, pleasure, warmth etcetera you all are giving here!!
That's so much more than "just" being very good at facepainting!
I think that little extra makes the WOW factor!

I really like that one, I saw one they did in Illusion that I just loved and it isn't even that hard, just so different! Although my rendition of it doesn't do it justice, I don't do as much detail at a job. I think the highlighting and some slight curves and details are the only difference from your first one. I think if you start to look at those details your paintings come to life.

Lorrin!! there is the cute boy!! I will always remember him complaining bc you washed off the spiderman mask I did on him and I answer "Oh she is a bad mom, she gave you a bath? I bet you have to beg, bribe or pay him to let you paint his face (as a good face painter child)

Yes, I remember that, so stressful at the market! So funny, I have to really bribe him to paint him now!
