Finally in front!!$$$$$

Just arrived home form a 3hr gig at The Coffee Club Carousel (Perth. Australia). Came out side of the shopping centre and almost melted 36oC (thats 97oF) . Got things all cleaned up and sat down at the computr to add in my takings for the day to my Profit/Loss spread sheet. OMG!! Finally tipped past that point where I am now in PROFIT!!! Not by a huge amount (under 3 figures) but have covered all purchased goodies form paints to popup shade tent and all those things inbetween. You know ALL those little things that seem to add up to $$$. Quelling the thoughts of going to buy more paint..deep breath...no not yet...deep breath...you can wait one more gig...then...GO PAINT SHOPPING!!!!

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. Without the help, support and endless information from all on this forum, I would not be at this point of my FP journey. Although my family support me ONLY another FP really knows how it feels.

It's pretty easy to enter all your figures into an excel document - I'm still pretty useless with computers but it's set up so I just write the date, what the item was eg festival earnings/festival stall fee etc, then I just enter the numbers in either the credit or debit column and it keeps a tally for me as to how far in front on $$ I am.

It is also super helpful if I get offered to return to an event - I can look back over the past year (for face painting) or years (for henna) to see how much I made at that event the previous year and decide if it is worth it. Or I can see how much I quoted previously as I sometimes give midweek discounts etc - I'd rather be working than twidling my thumbs!!

So rewarding to see the numbers going up and shows me how much I have to play with if I do want to buy something.

Awesome!! Congratulations. I've actually been pretty slack with doing this, I think I'm still surprised that I've actually been working, and have been viewing my paint buying addiction as more of a hobby! Good reminder to start taking this a bit more seriously.

That's exactly what I did. I work on computers every day so setting up an excel sheet with formulas was very easy. Just read a you tube on using the SUM functions. The coloums I have are 'date' (obvious), 'discription' (either that I purchased or whom I worked for), 'location' (shop name or where I worked), 'loss' (outgoing $) and 'profit' (incoming $) and lastly the BALANCE.
