Just wanted to share good news..

So i had to share with my fellow facepainters i am so excited. I have been going on many interviews with a nursing home i have had 3 seperate interviews for this position and i finally got a call back last night and i got the job!! i am beyond excited because its a job where i get to plan and play activities with the reidents and that is perfect for me considering i am a facepainter and entertainer! But the main reason i am excited is i get to get out of the job i am in now that i have been at for 2 years and i cant put up with the mental abuse anymore that i get treated by my boss! She is beyond rude to me like yesterday she called me an effing retard and an idiot! who does that?!?! So this new position i will be in i am an Activity Director and they just loved how personable i was and that i was a facepainter so they knew i had to be good with children how can i not be with seniors lol. anywho i just wanted to share my great news because i am overcome with enthusiasm right now i dont know what to do with myself! lol i am making sooo many changes in 2012 and its all to better myself!

FANTASTIC! And I'd imagine the pay is great too so you can do your FP and it even incorporates into your job! Congrats and I know you are going to make them so happy they found you!!

Is reportable if not actionable by law? Around here it would get HER fired.

I agree with Shannon - there are all sorts of safeguards against abuse like that here. How rotten for you.

Yeah I talked to my director about why i actually started looking for other employment in the first place and he said i should have came to him about it. but i am just glad im leaving because it does get to me alot.

Congrats! You should report that horrible woman who used to be your boss, so she can't get away with treating people like that in the future.
My mom used to be the activities director for a group of assisted living homes, she loved it! If you ever need any ideas for activities I used to go along with my mom and help out and she planned some AWESOME activities for the residents...my favorite was coordinating "Adopt a Grandparent"...I adopted a Grandparent of my own (who didn't have any family around to visit him) and I would read to him and he'd tell me all about his life, we'd play cards....it was really a special connection for both of us and I'll never ever forget him.

I believe the only reason she treated me that way was because i was the other girl in the dept. she doesnt treat the guys this way, it just gets to me because i guess i wear my heart on my sleve, but im nothing but sweet to everyone i just dont understand i guess. but i am byond happy to leave and to start a career somewhere i want to be which is in the nursing field!

Unfortunately some of the surgeons I am forced to deal with do that as well. Probably one of the reasons I am so happy to have found FP and this forum. Congrats on the new job!

I used to visit a friend in those places, and you can do a lot, seniors like to paint and the ladies LOVE make up, I used to take my nail polish over there and they were so happy to feel beautiful and they love craft jewelry too. Congratulations, you will be so happy to share your creativity with them.

Thank you all for such kind words! see this is why i love this forum everyone here is so sweet and knows how to cheer a down girl up! Yes the nursing home absolutly loved that i did the facepainting and all on the side i am going to incoorporate that in my activities somehow. I go monday to have my ppd shot down and then back wednesday for oreintaion and paperwork. im tellin ya 2012 is starting out as an amazing year so far!
