Sephora Makeup

Post by Miss Ronnie on Sun Jan 22, 2012 12:36 pm

We had a fundraiser gig yesterday for our city's roller derby team... what a blast! Anyway, the team manager and the manager from another team south of us wants to hire us for their "bouts" (that's the term for a roller derby game/match)... We talked in depth about the sweat factor. I have the whole line of Starblends but can only do so much with it...
Some of the roller derby girls use Sephora and they swear it doesn't come off. What I need is a waterproof makeup pen/liner to do details.... Anybody ever use these products? Or can you suggest something better?

I play derby. It all sweats off. I have used my paint and several coats of the Ben nye sealer spray and the design was mostly there at the end of the bout.

As long as I remembered not to wipe my brow. But it looks über cool. I've done a super hero and some super cool eye designs.

And one other thing that works fantastic for derby bouts is glitter tat arm numbers. They don't sweat off and look awesome.

Thanks so much! It's so cool that you are a roller derby queen! I did talk to them about the sealer spray, but wasn't sure how well it worked with continuous sweating. Oh yeah, we did lots of glitter tats on the girls yesterday and they were begging us for their numbers in glitter and mica for their bouts!!!

I was going to ask about mica powders with mehron mixing liquid? I have no idea, but it seems to stay put a little better than paint.

Also, the air brush hybrid makeups might be the ones that will work best. I think you can brush them on, but you might want to ask about that. Silly farm has all of them, one, if I remember right, is washable, but will stand up to heat and sweat. You could call and talk to them about application.

@a face painting mom - I was thinking along those lines as well. There are alcohol-activated makeup which might work perfectly for this:

http://www.glittertattoostencils.com/colorini_information.html
http://www.ppi.cc/skinillus.htm

All three are variations are the same thing and can be brushed on like face paint, but are activated iwth 99% alcohol. They should probably not be used on kids faces, though they're often used in special effects makeup on faces and appliances.

For my face, when I'm a clown, I use Mehron grease paints set with baby powder. It lasts through a whole day of clowning and even lasts while swimming.

Google the pro-pallette. Was reading an FX forum and some of the big-time movie makeup artists were recommending it.
