BAM stencils. A worthy investment?

Post by MelodyFPL on Mon Jan 23, 2012 8:42 pm

I've been looking at the BAM stencils lately, and they seem a little pricey at $4 a pop. Do you use these? Which ones do you find you use most? Do you find them to be a good investment?

I just got a few in (from istencils and got one free). I haven't used them a lot but really like them. They add that extra wow factor to stuff with very little effort. This is the mask I did with them, I thought it turned out nice and really lots of details. I had a birthday recently and wanted to use them and just didn't get a chance. I think they would really help butterfly paintings a lot too. Can't wait to use them for an upcoming festival.

I wish I could zoom in to get a better look at that pic. That's a beautiful mask, Lorrin!

i like the SMALL ones, they are a bit hard to clean though. I love the snowflakes, paisley one and lizard/dragon hide ones. fun for instant pop. the big ones I find cumbersome and just free hand it. my friend did an awesome mask with paisley one. sooo pretty!!

I have some, and love them, but not sure if im using them to their fullest potential? I think there is a Lynne Jamieson tute somewhere on the web. I should go and watch it again... You might like to as well, to see them in action!

Love it Lorrin. Just bought my first BAM stencil. Gotta love my hubby though. He went and bought me a "hot Knife" with different tips so I can do my own. He knows the way to my heart after 28 years together! I love you

ooo Nancy, I love that mask!! and those colours.

I only have a couple of small bad a** ones, I take them to a gig and bring em home again. lol yet to actually use them on a job. Only played at home with them on my leg. I'm not sure why, I think they look great.

I have the hot knife and plastic too, just not sure which pattern to do. I don't think I can do anything too intricate but plan to try it out soon.

Really awesome pics, gals, thanks for sharing those. I am think there isn't much I can't do with a sheet of vinyl and an x-acto knife. Same kind of thing as when I make my stencils for glass etching.... hmm... gears are turning.

I have the stencils too and I love them. They really add a lot if you don't have a lot of time for details. i have to get them out and lay them out where i can see them. The girly ones and the animal ones I use a lot.
