Before & after
Isn't it funny how when you first start out doing something you're so proud of your efforts - maybe you know you need more practice, but you're quietly pleased with yourself...then later, after a bit more practice, you look back and all you can see is how utterly AWFUL those first efforts really were!? Then you start thinking okay, well I'm thinking that what I'm producing NOW is alright - am I going to look back at this down the track and see how terrible it really is?
Anyway I'm REALLY embarrassed by my first tiger effort now, I can't say there is anything at all good about it, it's just SO incredibly BAD! LOL
Here it is for your amusement:

...and here's where I'm at now (three weeks later):

So it got me wondering if there was a thread on here somewhere of 'before & after' pics? I think it would be really encouraging for us newbie amateurs to see where some of the fabulous painters around here started out (although I do suspect that some of you may have been BORN painting masterpieces!...

Re: Before & after
I actually really love your first tiger,,,he is cool as.. I love your light touch on your lines...
Re: Before & after
I like the base shape better now, but also am drawn to the lines on the first one. And, if that before and after isn't a testimony to how placement can change the shape of a face, I don't know what is!

Re: Before & after
I must agree, I do really like the linework in the first one! I do think the way you do the eyes in the second tiger is much more flattering. I think combining the linework from the first with the eyes from the second and you've got yourself a winner!
Re: Before & after
I think this shows what a great artist you are. They both look great. I do like the line work pattern on the second one...just a smaller brush so we can see more of the base come through.
You are fabulous!
D.
The darker color in the middle is interesting. Kind of cool.

Re: Before & after
Thanks for the feedback & pointers!
I'll have another go at it tonight if I get time, see if I can do a finer-lined version of the second one.

Re: Before & after
I don't see anything wrong with the 1st tiger, and I love the line work also. I love the colors on the 2nd tiger, he is also very good.
