White face

I realize this is very basic, but what would you guys recommend as the most wear/sweat resistant way of painting someone's face white, like a mime?

Depends on what it is for. If this is for someone that is actually going to be PERFORMING as a mime, I would invest in some clown grease/cream paint. Ben Nye... or Mehron. Proface. Clown white. Then, set it with a setting powder or even just baby powder.

If you're just looking for a face painting design, I would say Wolfe white and a sponge. Face paints don't hold up to sweat, but for kids and general use, you want your facepaints to be water based. good luck!

I would NOT suggest wolfe for wearing all day and performing in it. Feels horrid, gets waxy looking and melts into your pores so it looks like orange peel! I tried it a couple times when I was trying to lighten up my clown make-up - big mistake.

For wearing all day - use theatrical cream (oil based) make-up. I use Ben Nye Clown White and set with baby powder. Holds up to heat and sweat well. I've worn it repeatedly for very long days - up to 22 hours one time... looked just as good at the end of the day as it did when I put it on.

It depends on what it's for. If it's for performance, use greasepaint or oil based paint, but if it's for painting children as general face painting, use water based paint... Wolfe or DFX...

its for a performance, but we are trying to avoid grease paint because it involves aerial silk performances and we don't want the grease getting on the silk.

That's why you set it with a powder. It doesn't make it budge proof, but it will "set" it. You're probably not going to find anything that is bulletproof. It has so come off at some point. If you want it to hold up to sweat, it needs to be cream/grease based.

What about Temptu? I have similar inquiries, but no answer. I work with a few magicians/freak show guys and was wondering if maybe Temptu would do well?
