I've been wanting to do this, too. Not even sure what is entailed in "hosting" one. I wouldn't consider myself very good as a painter. (certainly not great!) Most of the people I have heard of that host jams are pretty good.
That said, there are a few painters in my area, and I'd be willing to jam, and even network, if I wasn't paranoid about them slipping in and stealing my gigs and potetial gigs...
I'll be watching this post, to see what people have to say.

Kara and I are doing one in a couple of weeks. She has a really big house so that is where it is taking place. We are doing it a little different, we invited models and photographers along with face painters and it is more of a body and face jam (not the standard). We are charging $5.00 a person and having food and drinks and I am also in charge of door prizes (brushes, paint, etc.). It hasn't happened yet so hopefully all goes well. Kara set up an invite on Facebook so we can track who is or isn't going and keep everyone up to date. I can't wait to meet a ton of other painters, most of the time you are booked for a weekend and they need someone to send the client to that they can trust, I have really started to build by business just by getting referrals, it is also really professional to refer the client to someone you know is good and has good values. Also, once you know some other painters you can call for festivals and large events. Good luck, I'm sure your jam will rock!
