Re: What does it MEAN??

Post by pinkundies on Thu Jan 26, 2012 9:05 pm

My screen name is pinkundies because well, its been my screen name for 20 years now on every type of forum. My brother's name was always 'undies' because he thought it was such a funny sounding word and he would giggle everytime he said it (think Beavis and Butthead here), so mine just got pink put in front of it.

My 'real' name is Lynne .. Booooooring

Dear "Shannon Fennell":
I adore getting a reaction from you! I wrote that thinking that you would never see that post. Is Shannon Fennell your real name? Or is it a screen name? My daughter Darcy played hockey with Erin Fennell, daughter of Bess & Gary Fennell. Could you be related?

Sweethaven Arts is the company DH formed for me when I was selling fiber arts. I still do sometimes. But because we had the company, we just kept it for the face painting.
And where did sweethaven come from?
Well...
I waited tables at a 50's diner in college. My 'stage name' was Olive Oyl. Dh met me when I was working there. Sweethaven is the island Popeye lands on in the movie...

And strangely, about a week after forming our Sweethaven company, I found out that there was an ancestral home called fairhaven!

Post by HillbillyDiva1 on Thu Jan 26, 2012 11:21 pm

When my Daughter was 12 she said or did something I can't remember what but I said "Oh your just a Hillbilly." She said very proudly " No Mom I'm a Diva."
I said "Then your a Hillbilly Diva." The minute it came out of my mouth I knew I had something. I tried to take it to the park but they won't use it because they said Hillbilly had negative connotations. I ask her if we could use it for our business name and she said no so I couldn't let such a great name slip so it's been my screen name ever since. When we were just a magic act we were G & G Magic so we just expanded it to G & G Entertainment and Art. BTW my real name is Angie.

I totally knew that. I worked at camp one year and the camp gave kids fanny pack. The British staff were mortified and then died laughing when they heard that for the first time. Absolutely priceless.

Seahorse is my favorite animal (the males carry the babies and give birth) and 75 is the year I was born.

That is sooooo funny - The first romance novel (very tame one and Im talking about 20 years ago now) I read - the main characters had just met each other and it said that he patted her on the fanny - I was so mortified and shocked Embarassed - showed my Mum and we just laughed so hard - was relieved to find out it is your butt! cheers It's not your butt if you are Australian!

Oh yeah - Hi I'm Erica (and the 21 isn't my age!) - sorry so boring.

This thread is being a really hard challenge for a Non-English Speaker like me, trying to find out all those puns, tongue twisters and jokes. But I got most of your nicks and (after I googled it) I even got the butt/fanny thing Embarassed
Well, Pilar is my real name and "eta" is a kindly/loving ending so not surprising stories here Wink

Re: What does it MEAN??

Post by Anamootoo on Fri Jan 27, 2012 10:08 am

Ana is my daughter, the last grandchild, the only girl in the family and came after a long string of boys, 9. The grandparents wanted to show her off but, much to their dismay, she nursed constantly. Only one other family member nursed their children and it was always a point of contention with the elders in that family ( BIG formula advocates!) A lot of passive-aggressive jokes about hooking her up to a cow ensued and eventually I was introduced as Ana's Moo ( her cow). Aack!
It was meant to be hurtful, because I would not "just use formula". (whatever).
I joined my first social networking site right after that and to show them that they weren't ruffling my feathers, I used Anamoo as my nick name. It stuck. And I have been Anamoo since. Someone else in the world uses the name as well, so in some cases I am Anamootoo.
It's been 6 years and I'm actually pretty endeared to the name now. Smile

Not a wonderfully delightful story, but my story none the less. Smile

Oh, MY! I had no idea about the fanny thing. You just never know how your own puns will translate into another language, do you?

Sweethaven, I'm so glad to hear that your name originates because of Popeye! Every time I "hear" your name, I hear the theme song in my head.

Annamootoo, what a great story about "getting lemons & making lemonade"!
I use my business name on FPF...face magic was from my husband & I. At the last minute, sitting @ the bank...opening a business acct...my Business Major son-in-law called & convinced me to add "affordable" ("will show @ top of many lists"). That being said, I add something to all my greeting cards, letters, non-business notes & anything I draw (on paper!) "TTLTT" is also inside my wedding ring, but my family & friends don't know what it means. 4 years dating & 43 years married , it's STILL our little secret! it's our pet names, as in: TT LOVES TT Smile

Cool stories! I am still getting used to leaving glitter everywhere I go, so I try and think of myself as a "fairy". Then when in college I lived in Fox Hall, and we called ourselves foxy ladies, or the ladies of fox hall. Wanted to try and bring that back in my life. Hence Fairy Fox

What a neat thread.. love the stories behind everyone's screen names... some hilarious stories Laughing

@ uni a few years ago it came to the attention of my new friends that I was chocolate & lolly addict (still am!) and they started calling me lolly (everyone I know now calls me it!!).
Jean is my middle name (Laura Jean) which is my Mothers middle name (Raewyn Jean) which is her Mums middle name (Beryl Jean - my nana) - Jean was my Nana's Auntys' name so thats where it originally came from & then I passed it down to my daughter (Sophie Jean)...so hopefully my daughter will pass it to her eldest daughter (not for many many years yet!!!) and keep going this family tradition.

Lolly + Jean = Lollyjean

rthling wrote:I have noticed that there are others on this forum, besides myself who use an interesting name, besides the ones our parents gave us.
Whobwhate, I couldn't for the life of me figure out your name until this past Christmas. Tell me if I got it right. That's all I'll say about that.
My screen name is rthling. I pronounce it Earthling. The inspiration of this screen name, which I have used for years, on different forums and in different venues, is my favorite cartoon character, Marvin the Martian. He was always going on about earthlings. Once upon a time, I wanted personalized plates for my car, and sat for hours trying to figure out what I wanted it to say. I couldn't fit earthling on there, so I shortened it to include the phonetic sound of the first letter. Made sense at the time, and stuck with me for. the. rest. of. my. life.

So.
What does your screen name mean?

Yes rthling! You got it! It is from the movie "The Grinch" where the Grinch says "Holiday whobwhate?" I loved it so much that when I used to sew alot, I made this really cool original dog toy and needed a unique name for it so I called it "WhobWhate" and I sold tons of them, then I started making other dog stuff, like clothes & homemade dog treats(which I called "Whobsnacks" you know like "Scoobysnacks"?) and so I named my little dog business "Whobwhate" and had booths at craft shows and festivals. Well I don't sew much anymore and gave up the dog business, but still really liked the name...so I had to find a use for it.

This is my "Who B What E" Dog Toy that started it all!

And the "Who B Snacks"....

Sorry if I rambled too much....but that is my story! Oh and Marvin the Martian was always my favorite cartoon character too!!

Some of these stories are just too cute! I love HillyBillyDiva, 1HappyNut is awesome too!

Mine is not very exciting. In high school art class, I realized I couldn't sign my 16 character Italian name on my paintings. JoAnna Carrozzino became JZino. I think the pronunciation is pretty intuitive but I've heard it skewed. Its just Jay Zeeno. afro
