Maggie, it was actually in his best interest to put him down, because he was starving to death and at very high risk for pneumonia from aspirating the formula. But I'm stubborn and he really wanted to live. There were many times, through his first few months when I wondered if I was doing the right thing. He had pneumonia twice, constant sinus infections, and was severely underweight. But he made it. We were stubborn together, and now he will be four years old in April.

Dogs are awesome! Here's my honey and our boys (camera flash made their brown eyes blue- haha). We didn't pick them - they picked us. Not a puppy mill exactly cause she wasn't breeding to sell but the woman we got Jack and Bubba from had seventeen puppies she was trying to give away. When she let them all out of the pen, fifteen made a mad dash for the dog food bowls and our two boys ran to us as if to say "Please get us out of here!" Only went with the notion of one puppy but went home with two wormy runts who are now happy, healthy, devoted, and extraordinarily spoiled!
