Took a while but finallya website!! Whoohoo!
I've been doing this for a while but never did a real website. Finally bit the bullet last week and knocked this out. I may not post much (hoping to get better at posting) but truly love this forum and all the wonderful contributors. Even after all these years, I still learned so much. I value your opinions so let me know if I should be changing anything. You'll see from my Gallery that I was very inspired by Christina Davidson and a whole bunch of you! I painted them all myself but used some of your designs as inspiration. I hope you don't mind. Thank you!!!!! http://www.peppermintmill.com

It looks great, it's clean and easy to navigate. The only thing I can suggest is to use bold and/or italics to make the prices stand out. But that's totally up to personal preference!
You mention that you do feather hair extensions, where do you buy the supplies for this?

Yes please, do tell! (I researched it, but wasn't happy with the results I found!)

As BekahCat said, ur page is clean and easy to navigate! Beautiful job!
Re: Took a while but finallya website!! Whoohoo!
Nice and clean! I think some areas are a bit text-heavy (mostly the Rates page) for someone who wants some quick info, or just wants to know the price.
What made you decide on "Peppermint Mill"? I think it's the most un-face-paintery business name I've come across... no offense, of course. It just reminds me more of a bakery or something. Like Pepperidge Farm... lol.

I love the site. I am working on ideas for mine. love it. friendly for the viewer and informative.
are you licensed to do hair? Do you really need a license to do feathers in the hair?

Janna, she actually explains the name on her website:
It's a really fun idea! Haha
What is a Peppermint Mill? When we thought of the word "Mill", it brought to mind a rustic, industrious structure that churns out what people wanted. We liked that concept but we threw in "Peppermint" because it brings such a whimsical touch since we're also all about fun! This describes us perfectly, we're a hard-working team who'll love to bring smiles to your party.

Ahh got it... I still think if someone asked me "What kind of business do you think 'Peppermint Mill' is?", face painting would be one of my last guesses! But with the explanation it does make sense. I would just worry about promoting a business name that doesn't really say "face painting" to prospective clients... it might make things more challenging, but who knows!
Re: Took a while but finallya website!! Whoohoo!
Im struggling with a name right now. I hate what I got but my husband named me. i don't feel connected to the name at all. & i think that is important. its so hard since all the good face painting names are already taken. I got to get clever & creative about a name.

Re: Took a while but finallya website!! Whoohoo!
Thanks so much to everyone who gave me comments!! You guys are the best!!! Bekah and Janna - I completely agree, I need to make the actual rates stand out more for people who just want that information. I'll make the changes. As for the name, I went through so many ideas and because I wanted something that was flexible (in case I ever want to sell anything through the site), I didn't want to be limited to only face painting. Some of you may have seen that my forum name used to be Color_Garden (my little girl came up with that). I really loved it but later found someone else was already using it. I also loved "Swirl Factory" (because I love the swirl and teardrop strokes for face painting), but that's already taken. It's so hard finding something original. I guess I really like the connotations of whimsy and industrial together in one - hence Peppermint Mill. :-) (Peppermint is also a little homage to my dear husband who happens to be a mint fanatic! ) If anyone else has comments or suggestions, I'd love to hear it!
Almost forgot, Bekah and Anniel, my source for feathers actually came from breeders for fly fishing. There was a news show about a year ago that talked about all the fly fishermen complaining they can't get good feathers anymore because of all the hair extensions!! hahahaha PM me if you want to know the process of doing the feathers.

Tasha, I don't know if you need a license to put the extensions in. I've seen other face painters do it (how I got the idea) and don't know if they have it. I'm not really doing anything more to people's hair than clamping a bead with things attached. I think of it as a small hair clip that they can unclip and remove themselves so I don't know if it still warrants a license. hmmmmmm, does anyone know if that's required in CA?
Re: Took a while but finallya website!! Whoohoo!
LOVE Swirl Factory... too bad it was taken! It can be really tough to come up with a totally original name. The closest to mine is "Perfect Painted Faces", and they're located in the UK (I'm in Canada) so it's not a big deal... I guess I got lucky with mine!

Very nice website!
I didn't choose a real facepaintname too, because I wanted something covering everything I can offer in future days! When you take care of your tags on your website, your site will pop up when people search for facepaint or something like that!
