Day 1:
Man oh man, this is crazy. I feel... weird.
Sometimes it's like "Wow this is nothing! No problem!"
and other times I am literally in tears.
I know it's gonna get worse before it gets better but
Hubby bought me a new smartphone to reward me for my efforts!
This will help keep me from cheating because if I cheat I will feel terrible every time I look at my new phone. Hubby is taking tricks from the wife.... guilt works!

Re: Tomorrow is the Day
Keep at it Melody, you know (since you quit before) that it takes a long time to actually feel like a non smoker. I used Chantix also and kicked my beloved cigs goodbye after a long 16 year love hate relationship. It is such a hard battle, but keep your head up, after the first week it is gonna get easier. My father passed away at 47 from emphysema. I keep telling myself everyday... 16 more years is not enough for me. I want to meet my grandchildren and god willing great grandchildren. Something my father didn't get to do.
Re: Tomorrow is the Day
Day 2: Not so bad. I cheated and took a couple drags (don't judge me) and omg it was sooo NASTY and made me feel GROSS! I can't believe I used to ENJOY that! I think this will be easier than I expected.
My little girl gave me her lavender essential oil to sniff when I feel stressed, she is so dang cute.

Melody-
You are wonderful for doing something so hard! I applaud you!
Something that helps me, is rather than saying "I don't want it, I don't wan't it" to myself about something, which totally feels like lying, it was a wonderful day when I learned to say "I do want it, I just don't want it more- so that wins"
Good Luck, feel free to keep posting, we are all pulling for you. Don't ever feel like you've out used our support!

Re: Tomorrow is the Day
No deaths yet, Ronnie LOL but I have broken out in cold sores from stress (those are the two things that cause cold sore breakouts, stress and sunlight. No sunlight here, must be stress)
Re: Tomorrow is the Day
Holy cow! Day two and your already sick of the taste!? That's so fantastic! That's like, 50% progress. I've never been a smoker but my mom was (a nurse, you'd think she'd know better) and it took her over a year to get where you are at right now. Bravo woman!
Re: Tomorrow is the Day
Thanks everyone. I want a little smokey goodness pretty bad right now though. *grunt* sigh *grrrrr*
Re: Tomorrow is the Day
Prayer can be one of the most powerful tools you could ever use in this life. Pray with sincerity and plead your case. Heavenly Father doesn't want you to smoke more than you don't want to smoke. He sees the destruction it can have on your body, not to mention being in bondgage to it. When I can't kneel and pray, I say a prayer in my mind. He knows when you're being sincere. So, you can pray anytime of the day. Are you going to be in bondage or be set free? What do you think about the idea of waking up in a hospital one day.....and knowing you'll never go home again? This is a very hard question and I'm not trying to be cruel, I just want you to think about how important it is to quit, you have alot to lose if you don't...and alot to win if you do. Which one are you going to choose? Is it worth it? I've been through this and I know what you're going through. ~~hugs and prayers~~ (maybe I shouldn't bring up prayer, but it is what helped me).

Re: Tomorrow is the Day
LOL Jan, one thing I have learned, never discuss politics or religion!
BUT, luckily, I am not one of the "touchy" ones.
Thank you for your thoughts. I will take all the prayers I can get.
This mama is NOT taking this well.
Oh I'm praying but it's more like "Lorrrd please don't let me kill anyone today."
(kidding, I would never kill/maim/hurt anyone)

Re: Tomorrow is the Day
Yeah!!!
I started smoking when I was 14 & quit when I was 24. The doctor's said, some people could smoke their whole lives & some couldn't. I was one that couldn't & had constant bronchitis, ear infections, etc. My lungs where like an 70 yr old. I've not had a cigarette in over 20 yrs & don't miss them a bit! I can run, climb stairs (I climbed a mountain in S. Africa) & am so happy I quit!
Praying for you to have a smoke free life!

Re: Tomorrow is the Day
Ok putting my non-smoking of 2 years opinion in here.
YOU ARE DOING THE BEST, MOST IMPORTANT THING EVER!
You are doing something that is sooooo massive, non smokers can not possibly understand, but they are always a great support.
You will be grieving- let yourself feel all the sh!t that goes along with this, it is a traumatic thing. Things wil come up you hadn't even planned/been aware of.
EVERY MOMENT GETS EASIER- EVEN AT THE TOUGHEST MOMENTS, just hang in there for 5 more minutes. Everytime I got these cravings I thought about what I was gaining and that is really important for rethinking.
GAINING NOT LOSING!
You are gaining:
years on your life
quality of life
better quality sleep
healthy glowing skin
bright sparkling eyes
getting rid of that sick pallid complexion
plump pink healthy inside organs
clear nails
non stinky shiny hair
fresh breath
FREEDOM- to watch a movie, eat a whole meal at a resturant, shopping, without having to leave for a smoke
not contributing to rubbish, pollution, foul chemicals, corrupt corporations
more energy
clearer thinking
healthier family
longer life
a good example to your kids
less wrinkles
no more social outcast
You can tell a smoker a mile away- they look like a smoker. It is not pretty at all, it stinks so bad, you won't kid yourself anymore about not stinking-it really is disgusting.
JUST REMEMBER 5 MORE MINUTES
And even if your behaviour is shocking, it is only temporary and it is better than dying!
You are amazing for doing this! You really are.
You have my total support and everyone else around you.
Here's to a fresh beautiful new you
