They are the reason I convinced the school I work at to buy Wolfe Appetizer palettes.

We did not have success with them. Others may have had a different outcome...

They pulled on the skin too much, took too long to fill in areas, weren't great to blend or get nice lines with, and the results...? Well it generally looked exactly like a 5 year old drew on your face with crayons.
IMHO, they are not a good investment, unless that is the look you are going for Wink

What she said. They are crayons... that should give it away. Think Crayola and how they work...

None of the crayon style ones I've tried worked to make anything resembling what we all think of as "good" face painting.

I got a few packs for free. I use them for eye liner. They melt though!!

Lol... I definitely don't suggest them...

The metallics I got actually went on pretty opaque though, probably because it's basically coloured wax...

Those sticks are the reason why I began face painting. I had all the little girls over from my new mother's group on a Saturday before Christmas. I did not notice that the first little girl had pinkeye. It became apparent as the day wore on. I gave pinkeye to seven little girls. I called my husband's first make up artist, John Sheehy, and I asked him what he used at SickKids when he had volunteered at Halloween. He asked me what I was using. I told him "those sticks that you dip in water". John called those "Death on a Stick". I asked him what he used and he took me to Hiscott's the following week where I bought my first Ben Nye pallette. I practiced on my children. I adored face painting my children. The following October I went with John to SickKids. That was October 31, 1998.
The moral of the story is...buy good face paint. Use proper hygiene. Practice. Practice. Practice. Avoid Death on a Stick.

There are makeup pencil liners that are in a sense creamy and will work well for what you are writing about. I'll have to go dig some out to see which one are softer and work on face well. May be Ben Nye. Kryolan makes some too. Some body painters use pencils to outline before painting large designs.

And I just had Joe the Kryolan rep send me some pencils per his suggestion that we took and used at the West Coast Haunters Convention. He sent us black, red and blue and I am so in love with the red and blue for veining. But Snaz, Wolfe or Graftobian stick will not do you justice.
