Yep, same one! I used to paint standing up and had to haul a table, makeup chair, and a rolling tote with all my supplies. Now I just have my fat max with a foam core board as my table bungied to the front, as well as two small folding stools, and I paint sitting down. Much better on the feet and back and easier to carry and set up/break down. I can literally arrive at my gig, and be unloaded and setup in 5 minutes. Then when my time is up, I can break down and be loaded in the van in another 5 minutes. Sweet!

Ok, I sit to but I was unsure if standing is better for my back, I have scoliosis pretty severely and I am always in pain. I was considering switching to standing but is that worse in your opinion? I am getting a fat max, even if I have to be my OWN santa this year! I love how organized it is! Right now, I cram everything I have into a big swiss gear back pack that cost me just as much as a fat max Embarassed I purchased it before any research here...I am 5' 8" do you think I would be able to reach my paints on top of the fat max "table" while sitting in a regular folding chair? I noticed you said you use stools...I also love your paint tray setup but I have never repotted ANY paints and that's a bit intimidating to me lol. I like having my paints covered but I hate fussing with the lids on my Diamond FX. You should just duplicate your WHOLE setup and ship it for me . lol!

Yay! That is awesome Erika!!!

Since I started painting staing up my back feels better after a gig, I mean still a little sore but now as bad as when I was sitting. I think you'll be able to sit and reach your paints since you are a little taller than me.

So, did you set it up already, what do you think?

Yay again for getting a fatmax, your husband is awesome!!!

Yea, I am lucky Smile he's great and very supportive. I did get roped into going to the office with him though, we have a dog collar and teddy bear company. The extra work is totally WORTH it! I'm sure he's regretting bringing me though because all I can think about is getting my fat max home so I can organize my mess! tongue

i have a question, for anyone who would like to answer, I hope this is the right thread. I want to get a fatmax, i dont want to repot my paints, anyone have suggestions for good cases to carry paints where i can leave the lids off, that will work well with the fatmax? Lady jade, is that what you do with the magnets? if so, what kind of trays are you using?
thanks

Huge thank you to all of you who tested this setup out! Did anyone end up finding NON flocked trays? I'm going to be ordering some and I'd rather they not be flocked. If yours weren't flocked would you mind posting the link?

I'm pretty sure lady jayde just uses the cases that metina sells in the shop. She has different one for different brands of paint.

Just ordered the 18 section ones from Nile corp. Not supposed to be flocked...will let you know. The 32 section ones I got off Amazon weren't flocked but that has been a while since I got them so I wouldn't want to suggest a link.

ninaschau, here's a thread with some scrapbook case ideas. I used the slim style so that I don't have to velcro. I set them up on the table and use the lids to hold my brush bath, wipes, etc.:

I got two of those from www.cipsigns.com
but I'm pretty sure they've gone to only selling wholesale. You could give it a try, though~

I have the flocked trays and I have been perfectly happy with them. I have 3 of them running right now and ordered another 2. I love them! Love the ease of use, ease of transport, the ability to have so many colors immediately available. Plus, you simply can't argue about how impressive it looks when you lay those trays of color out. I *love* that I can stack them in a small(ish) tote and carry them all with me! The only color I have had to refill so far is the metallic white/silver FAB pot - it's just really soft and I find that I use a lot of it when I'm sponging it (Plus my daughter has this angel wing face that she paints a LOT and uses those colors up)

I keep my black and white in their original cases - everything else is on the tray.

One disappointment is that the cases are a little too snug in the top of the Fat Max. Paints will have to move to the bottom or I'll have to cut a groove for the latch of the boxes. Shocked

They're not too thin that they're gonna break when you smoosh the paint in, but they aren't thick by any means...they're flexible, that's why I got cases to keep them in.

so when you pick the tray up to move it you need to be careful with the weight of the paint in them, probably. I am defiantly thinking of these. Really sounds nice

I have been using divided containers from the container store, but it is hard for fitting sponges into the colors in the middle, I like that these are only 1/2" in deep

Two 18 and two 32s. Loving the way it's looking....hard to decide how I wanted to organize my paints though. In the end, I'm kinda organizing more by brand than color.

<3 great idea, that way you wont get the brands mixed up.
I also like the idea of having all rainbows/splits handy at one time.

I love this idea but I am SO scared to re-pot paints! I've never made my own split or rainbow cakes for this same reason. Can Snaz be put into these trays? How about other brands (I have a lot of Paradise)? Are there any that just don't work well?
