Hi!

What part of CA? On Sept 21-23 there is a convention "Living Canvas" in San Jose - would be great for a beginner!!

Hi Shannon,

I am from Los Angeles, Southern California SanJose is about a 5 hour drive from me. That convention looks interesting and I would love to be able to go to something like that but unfortunately I have a day job and no vacation time at the moment maybe next year . Crying or Very sad because some how I don't think this passion for facepainting is going to go away Very Happy

Hi Christina!
I was born and raised in CA! (a valley girl!) Be well and have fun. Some people are trekking to Las Vegas in Feb '10 for the FBPAC. There is a link if you haven't already checked it out - http://www.fpbaconvention.com/2010/

There are also some jams and mini conventions that are run out of CA that are very well regarded.

Good luck and Happy Painting!

Hey Christina- I was born in Orange, then moved to LA County, then to Ventura County. Left when I was 18 and now just go back to visit......

I am going to try and go to CA in Feb and drive to do at least a day at the convention. If I can get away I will meet you and we can "jam", which is to say we break out the paints and try things we know, or experiment and try new stuff, or share tips, etc.!!! Jams are some of the best part of going to the convention because your brain is bursting from all you see and the classes you may have attended and the artists you see all around doing different things. In a jam =you can soak it up and watch, actually participate and paint, or volunteer to get painted (sometimes by someone whose work you love - and feel like amazed and honored!). It is a wild experience to be around people who "get" your obsession with painting on people - it is an immersion experience not to be missed!!! Take lots of pics, get plenty of rest and water, improve your skills, be inspired for year(s) to come!

Thanks Wyndy

I was curious as to what a Jam entailed that sounds like so much fun. Since I know I have to make a trip in Febuary to Vegas im going to try to plan my trip around the convention so I can attend. I would love to meet other people who love face painting and body art. Because although my frends encourage me totally in what I am doing they always get a blank look confused when I start to talk about facepainting I think that is one of the main things I love about this forum everyone gets what you want to do and your obsession with it
