Website Help Needed

Post by ChristinaG on Sat Sep 05, 2009 1:43 pm

Help needed desperately,

Ok I finally got up the nerve to try this and as I am just starting out I signed up with Godaddy wish I would have seen this before I decided upon it but I have it and I have to work with it for now I have the basic package very small and I finally got it up If you guys could take a look and give me your opinions on the site please be kind I have only been doing this about 3 months and have alot of practicing to do although I think for the most part the site looks ok for a beginner who is not a technical person at all I don’t understand anything about getting into the search engines so I know that right now no one can find me and I don’t know how to go about fixing that.

I like it. The design is good and it is easy to find your way around in it.
But I don't think you should write people are taking classes in Balloon art, just that it is coming soon.

Don't worry about the search engine thing... the best way to go about that is to do a link exchange with other local related businesses... the more sites link to you, the better your rating on search engines. So offer to link to their site if they link to yours, just make sure that there is some common ground that gives a reason people visiting your site would be interested in visiting that business as well. You don't want your site to just spam people with useless links for no reason, but like the idea of the cakes and bouncers, you could link to a party store, a caterer, even a toy store or kids' clothing store... as long as they give you a link from their site too. Doing JUST that has gotten me on the second page of a search for clowns in my area on google.

Very nice.... simple, easy to understand, not cluttered.

Just an editing note (the teacher coming out in me... sigh) your last sentence that says .... 'here are a few ideas', the 'here' should be capitalized so it's not a run on sentence.

That's all I can offer. Your webpage looks great!

Looks great! My only suggestions would be to get a pic in the left hand side as well as when the page is not maximized they can't see a photo. You need everything you can get to pull them in.

Also, I would suggest brighter, stronger colors. I absolutely love the vine swirly thing, but can the be a neon or other strong green as opposed to the pastel. Just don't see a lot of pastel face painting out there.

Wonderful first effort though!

I want to thank you guys for taking time to look at my site and for the advice it is very much appricated. I have to say I am on cloud 9 Very Happy with the fact that you guys think it looks nice I really wanted other opinions other than family I know they love me to death and would tell me it looked great even if it didnt.

I have changed a few things thanks to the advice given. But I think once my prepaid time runs out I might just look into yahoo because with godaddy your limited to what you can do alter and what you can add as far as photos which I am at my limit unless I upgrade

Thanks
Christina

This may make you laugh... it did me!

I looked at your links page... Looking for a bouncer?... bounceallyear... all your bouncing needs...

My first thought was not bounce houses. It was the big burley men who fight in bars. LOL! So if I call... Will Patrick Swayze from Roadhouse show up???? Wink

Also about website you can think about a CMS (Content Managing System Solution) like Wordpress or Joomla. I'm not a huge fan of Wordpress but I really like Joomla. Its what I use for my own website : http://www.fancifulfaces.com

I understand that Wordpress or Joomla needs in some cases to have technical knowledge (I do everything like design, hosting ect for myself). But for those who don't have knowledge there is some not expensive solutions. Like that one : http://www.siteground.com/joomla-hosting.htm

I hope this help a little bit
